Incan Ruins

Only 1 left in stock (can be backordered) / Shipping Available

Pachacamac is an active archaeological site 40 kilometres (25 mi) southeast of Lima, Peru in the Valley of the Lurín River. The site was first settled around A.D. 200 and was named after the “Earth Maker” creator god Pacha Kamaq. I visited it on a bus tour of Lima and surrounding area in the final day of my trip to Peru. Sitting where the Incan priests reportedly sat on top of the Temple of the Sun for ceremonies as well as to watch the rising sun, I was awed by the mastery of architecture the builders had over a 1,000 years ago.

Lima Surf

Only 1 left in stock / Shipping Available

In the final days of my trip to Peru to document the work of Selva in Action and lives of teens growing up in the jungle, I wandered around Lima, the capital of Peru. On an overcast afternoon, I sat on the beach looking out at the Pacific Ocean and the crowds of surfers who dared to ride its wild swells. To the left of all this action sits this elegant pier, a fancy restaurant with guests quietly staring off in the same direction I was, pointing at the great expanse of water.

Treasure Island is an artificial island in the San Francisco Bay built for the 1939 Golden Gate International Exposition. After completion of the exposition, control of the island was passed to the US Navy and it served as a Naval Station from 1942-1997. Now, as with many former military facilities decommissioned in the late 1990’s, it is a leisure area, its history on display in condemned buildings, wide boulevards and attempts at revival.

Rising Water

This image was taken at one of the many docks in Iquitos where boats come and go on their way out into the Amazon river basin surrounding this major city in the middle of the Peruvian jungle. During my week in the area, I saw the rising and falling of the water levels, the results of which are calmly adapted to by those who live on or work near the water edge.

We are at heart so profoundly anarchistic that the only form of state we can imagine living in is Utopian; and so cynical that the only Utopia we can believe in is authoritarian.
